Hypothetical cause of Covid-19 outbreak in Ha Tinh

From June 5 to this afternoon, Ha Tinh recorded 29 cases of Covid-19, health officials said that the rapid spread could be caused by the B.1.617.2 strain from India.

Currently, samples of Covid-19 cases in Ha Tinh have been sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for viral gene sequencing to determine the infectious strain, pending results.

Working with the delegation of the Ministry of Health on the afternoon of June 11, the leader of the Ha Tinh Department of Health made the hypothesis that “it is possible that the strain of the virus causing the epidemic is a variant from India”. According to the Department, this variant is very contagious, dangerous, and is 2.5 to 2.8 times more intense than the original strain, 40% more than the British strain. Meanwhile, the epidemic situation in the area is complicated and unpredictable, with many cases of infection from a business couple in Binh Duong.

A representative of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology also said that through epidemiological investigations, two people returned from Binh Duong, suspecting that the husband was infected with nCoV first, then infected his wife, thereby infecting many others. The most infectious time was on June 3, when these two people went to a public freshwater bath in Xuan Hai beach, Loc Ha town, Loc Ha district.

Only the location of the public freshwater bath in Xuan Hai beach, “the place that spreads the strongest amount of virus”, has so far had 7 infections.

In addition, Ha Tinh Department of Health said that there is a possibility that there is a second source of infection in the area, because some patients have unclear epidemiological factors.

Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau asked the Ministry of Health for comments on expanding service testing points by people in the province.

“There have been three people in the area who tested positive for nCoV, so it is necessary to expand testing to detect many cases of false declaration,” Chau said.

Dang Quang Tan, Director of Preventive Medicine Department, Ministry of Health, said that Ha Tinh is facing difficulties in terms of human resources and needs to be assigned to lower-level medical forces to urgently track down the right people.

“Patient 8425, 8427” is a 56- and 52-year-old Binh Duong businessman couple, F1 of “patient 8113”, recorded by the Ministry of Health at noon on June 5. The businessman and his wife live in Doai Thinh village, Thach Trung commune, Ha Tinh city, living mainly in Di An city, Binh Duong.

Two people were identified in contact with a patient from Hanoi to Binh Duong on May 29. At 8:25 a.m. on May 30, they took a plane from Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh City (Nghe An), landed at 9:55 a.m., were picked up by private car to go home, then went to the Thach Trung Commune Health Station to make a medical declaration and isolate at home. home.

On June 4, after learning that the person they had been in contact with had Covid-19, they contacted the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control to take samples for testing along with 6 family members. As a result, the couple tested positive for nCoV.

Since May 5, Ha Tinh has recorded 29 community Covid-19 cases, many of which are related to the couple returning from Binh Duong. 14 communes and wards (except Thach Binh commune) in Ha Tinh city and 8 villages in Tan Lam Huong commune (Thach Ha district), are in social isolation according to Directive 16, from 12pm on June 8.

CDC Ha Tinh recommends that all people who have been to these locations stay in place, contact the local health facility or the Center’s hotline at 0961 202 026 for advice and prevention instructions. Translate.
