The name of the convict is Nautan Lal who is a teacher in a government degree college. According to the information, he was arrested in the year 2019 and since then he is in jail as an undertrial prisoner.

On September 14, 2019, a video was shared on social media in which a student claimed that the owner of a local school had committed blasphemy. According to the Center for Research and Security Studies, a think tank, Pakistan has registered a total of 1,415 cases of blasphemy in the country since 1947.

According to the report of the think tank, from 1947 to 2021, a total of 18 women and 71 men were murdered for blasphemy. However, according to the think tank, the actual number of cases may be higher as not all cases of blasphemy are reported to the media.
