Health crisis: event companies at risk

For seven months, the company of David Istas, general manager of Be Lounge in Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), has had very few orders. Weddings normally represent the bulk of his activity. In eight years of practice, this is the first time that the company has experienced such a situation: while its turnover was six million euros in 2019, it estimates not to exceed two million this year. The 32 employees only work one day a week.

David Istas is very worried about the future of his five branches. “The first quarter of 2021, we can forget it“, he laments. Result, almost a year without work and without cash.”We can maybe hold out six more months“, predicts the managing director. The company has so far received no state aid. Like Be Lounge, many companies in the events sector could close permanently if the situation were to persist.
