KabulMullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is one of the people who formed the Taliban. The Baradar, who was a part of every important Taliban fight, was kicked and punched at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Kabul. It is reported that the supremacy of the Haqqani faction in the Taliban government has increased to such a degree that one of its commanders threw punches at Baradar.

You will remember that the news of Baradar’s death came last week but later Baradar had denied those reports by releasing the video. But now this news is in the headlines in the American media that Baradar was assaulted and bullets were fired at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Kabul.

What is the whole matter, understand here

The world knows that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has been the main face of the Taliban. He was also constantly involved in talks with America. The US and its allies who left Afghanistan hoped that Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar would be the voice of the Taliban government in Afghanistan. It was expected that he would also include non-Taliban leaders and ethnic minorities in the Taliban cabinet. A report in the English newspaper Bloomberg said that Baradar is considered a leader with a ‘soft stand’ in the Taliban and the US and many countries expected that the country’s command would be handed over to Baradar, but this did not happen.

When the list of the interim government came, Baradar himself got the post of Deputy PM. It was argued that Mullah Baradar could come under pressure from America and it could prove to be harmful for the Taliban government in the coming times. Those who said this were mainly the leaders of the Pakistan-backed Haqqani faction, which has got four important ministries, including the Home Ministry, in the interim government. Sirajuddin Haqqani, who is on the FBI’s Most Wanted list for terrorism, was made acting Home Minister.

How did this controversy begin?
Amid reports of internal splits within the Taliban, an important cabinet meeting was taking place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Kabul in early September. According to reports, in this meeting, Baradar was repeatedly pushing for a cabinet that includes non-Taliban leaders and ethnic minorities. Baradar argued that an inclusive government is essential for the world to recognize the Taliban government. But these words of baradar from the Haqqani faction could not be tolerated.

In the midst of the debate, suddenly Haqqani leader Khalil-ul-Rahman Haqqani got up from his chair and started throwing punches at Baradar. Media reports claim that the bodyguards of both also fired at each other, in which many people were seriously injured. After this, leaving the meeting midway, Mullah Baradar left Kabul and went to Kandahar to talk to the Taliban’s supreme leader Haibatullah Akhundzada. Only after this there were reports last week that Baradar was badly injured. Which was later denied by Baradar by releasing his video.

Mulla Baradar sidelined
It is clear that Mullah Baradar who was the public face of Taliban until recently. According to sources, after this incident of Rashtrapati Bhavan, that Mullah Baradar has been sidelined. So it does not seem that the controversy will end. Western countries also have a problem with Baradar being the sideline because Baradar was the main face of peace talks.

This means that the Pakistan-backed Haqqani faction has become very strong in the Afghan government. The talk of an inclusive government was completely left behind. The growing presence of the terrorist Haqqani group can increase problems for the Taliban as well as for a neighboring country like India.
