According to the latest assessment of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), thanks to the vaccination activity of Covid-19, the world tourism industry will have a slow recovery at the beginning of the year and gain growth momentum in the second half of 2021. .
The UNWTO also assessed that domestic tourism is still the main trend this year, accounting for 90% of the number of tourists. In the context of a pandemic, people tend to travel close to their habitat, to destinations close to nature (60%) and in small groups or families. International tourism activities will likely be reopened from the end of the third quarter of 2021.

According to the General Department of Tourism, domestic tourism will remain a key factor this year. With the government’s good translation control, the Booking.com site also states that 71% of Vietnamese are ready to travel. These are good signs for Vietnam’s tourism industry.
In Hanoi city, the epidemic situation has changed positively and is basically under control. In this context, the Department of Tourism and the Department of Information and Communications of Hanoi agreed to sign a coordination program on improving the efficiency of information, propaganda, promotion and application of information technology in tourism activities of the Capital paragraphs 2021-2025.
The coordination program aims at the goal of cooperation between the two Departments in improving the efficiency of information, propaganda and advertising for tourism activities and events in Hanoi. Through the coordination mechanism, the two organizations want to renew the way and content of information and communication to transform digitally in the tourism industry.
According to Ms. Dang Huong Giang – Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the tourism industry has contributed 12.54% of the GDP of Hanoi in 2019. However, this number has dropped to only 3.54% of GDP in year 2020.
To solve the above situation, in addition to digital transformation and IT application, the Department of Tourism will organize many activities to stimulate demand and propagate to promote the city’s tourism industry.
