The Government has just requested to accelerate the implementation of the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with orientation to 2030; proactively take measures to promote and support people and businesses for digital transformation.

In early 2021, the Ministry of Information and Communications also launched a program to support small and medium-sized businesses in digital transformation with the excellent Make in Vietnam Digital Platforms. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said: Vietnam currently has about 800,000 enterprises, of which small and medium enterprises account for more than 98%. When the Covid-19 pandemic took place, over 90% of small and medium businesses were negatively affected.

The current “pain” of small and medium-sized enterprises is that there is no output, the traditional market is shrinking due to the distance, the dependence on intermediaries, and at the same time, still have to bear the cost of maintaining operations. . Revenue has fallen by more than 50%. The number of small businesses temporarily shutting down is about 24%. The number of newly established businesses decreased by 15%. About 47% of businesses surveyed consider converting to a digital environment an urgent need, however, they are still unfamiliar and do not know where to start.

“The Ministry of Information and Communications has set a target that in 2021, there will be 50,000 small and medium-sized businesses accessing the program, of which at least 30,000 businesses will be able to experience the platforms for free,” said Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung.

Commenting on opportunities for digital transformation for Vietnam, Dr Mai Liem Truc, former Deputy Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, said: “In the past, we innovated, opened the market and integrated on the basis of resources Now, these factors are the limit and force us to enter a new stage of development with the creation of new technologies, especially digital technology. Sharing about digital transformation, former Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop said, “Digital transformation starts with a change of mindset, from the most senior leaders to the staff”.
