The elderly are in proportion much more often in a situation of long-term unemployment than the rest of the population.

According to the latest study by the Ministry of Labor published on March 18, 2019, the proportion of long-term unemployed remains significantly higher among the oldest compared to the rest of the working population. 60.2% of those over 55 had been unemployed for more than a year in 2018 compared to 41.8% for all unemployed aged 15 to 64.

In 2017, a senior who left Pôle Emploi spent an average of 1 year and 7 months (585 days). Two years later, this period was extended by almost a month (606 days).
