S Jaishankar Visits Philippines: India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is in the Philippines on his three-day visit from today. After reaching the Philippines, he met Teodoro L Locsin, Secretary of Foreign Affairs. During this, many important issues were discussed between the two. Tweeting from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, it has been written that there was a discussion between Teodoro Loxin and S Jaishankar to further strengthen the existing relations between the two countries as well as bilateral relations. Apart from this, besides health, security, other regional and global matters of mutual interest are also expected to be discussed between the two leaders.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Philippines visit
Earlier, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was given a warm welcome on his arrival in the Philippines. Secretary Toyodor L Loxin received India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on his arrival at the Ministry of External Affairs for talks. Ahead of the visit, the Ministry of External Affairs had said that the two ministers would review developments in bilateral relations since the meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, which they co-chaired in the virtual meeting in November 2020.
Discussion on regional and international issues
The Ministry of External Affairs said that regional and international issues of mutual interest will be discussed seriously between the two countries. The visit is expected to provide further impetus to bilateral relations with our key partners in the Indo-Pacific region. The Foreign Ministry said that Australia and the Philippines are also a major member of ASEAN (ASEAN). S Jaishankar arrived here from Australia where he attended the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting and also held separate bilateral talks with his Quad counterparts.
