Europe’s largest technology conference will be held live in November

Europe’s largest technology conference – Web Summit will be held in person in Lisbon (Portugal) next November, after being held online last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Web Summit organizers, they are in constant contact with health authorities to ensure the event will be held safely.

Web Summit communications manager Katherine Farrell said the organizers have not yet decided whether to require attendees to wear masks or take tests before coming to the event. But she said the venue is being prepared to ensure the ability to distance between attendees.

Under the current plan, the Portuguese Government will lift the mandatory requirement to wear masks in outdoor areas this September. But that requirement still applies to large gatherings and indoor events.

Ms. Farrell also revealed some content of the conference will be streamed, similar to the period before the pandemic broke out.

Statistics from the Web Summit organization show that more than 1,000 speakers and 1,250 startups will attend the conference from November 1-4.

About 104,000 people participated in the Web Summit held online last year. Next year, organizers say they expect just over 40,000 people to attend.

In November 2020, Web Summit CEO Paddy Cosgrave said that the next event will be held at the Altice Arena in Lisbon.
