Establishing Hue Central Covid-19 Research and Treatment Center

HueHue Central Hospital established a Covid-19 Research and Treatment Center, when the number of infections in Thua Thien Hue increased dramatically.

On the afternoon of December 7, the Hue Central Covid-19 Research and Treatment Center began operating. The center is located at Hue Central Hospital, campus 2 in Phong Dien district, with a size of 300 beds and will be adjusted to suit the actual situation of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The center has functions of emergency, intensive care (ICU), treatment, research and training on Covid-19. The center is on the 3rd floor in a 3-storey model of treatment, collection and ICU for critically ill and critically ill patients.

This is the first ICU center at the central level set up by the Ministry of Health in the Central region during this 4th epidemic. The center is equipped with modern machines such as ventilator, ECMO, DSA system, MRI machine, X-ray machine, ultrasound machine, monitoring monitor, hemodialysis machine… Oxygen system, medical gas and medicine materials, chemicals, are also fully planned.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan, Deputy Director of Hue Central Hospital, was appointed Director of the Center for Research and Treatment of Covid-19. Doctor Xuan is an experienced person who used to work at the Covid-19 Intensive Care Center under Hue Central Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

In July, when the outbreak was most intense in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces, the Ministry of Health decided to establish 5 national ICU centers in all 3 regions, in order to strengthen the capacity of emergency resuscitation. Intensive resuscitation, treatment of severe and critical Covid-19 patients. The goal is to support localities to reduce severe cases and deaths.

5 ICU centers were established at 5 major hospitals, including Bach Mai Hospital and Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases (Hanoi); Hue Central General Hospital (Central region); Cho Ray Hospital and the Covid-19 Intensive Care Center in Ho Chi Minh City (base 2 of Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital). Each center has 500-1,000 beds.

Up to now, Cho Ray Covid Resuscitation Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City has been operating since July and plays an important role in treating serious patients in the city. Bach Mai Hospital ICU has been established at facility 2 in Ha Nam. The ICU at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases is being set up by completely transforming the Kim Chung facility. The ICU at Hue Central Hospital is now operational.
