Sharjah New Weekend Days: Sharjah United Arab Emirates on Thursday reduced the working day of employees to 4 days. In such a situation, now government employees will get week off for three days in a week. This change was taken after the United Arab Emirates announced on Tuesday that from the new year i.e. January 1, 2022, the working day of the employees will be four and a half days a week. Weekend in UAE will start from Friday afternoon and will last till Saturday and Sunday.
Now moving a step ahead, the Southern Gulf Emirate of Sharjah has taken this decision. The Sharjah Executive Council said the decision was taken in line with the UAE’s vision to enhance its competitive position. The working week for Sharjah’s government agencies has been reduced from Monday to Thursday and the weekend will be from Friday to Sunday.
Two and a half days off will be available in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
It is worth noting that at present there is a weekend in UAE on Friday and Saturday. In the new year, public sector employees at the ministry level will adopt a four-and-a-half day work week, with employees working from Monday to Thursday and half a day on Friday. The governments of Dubai and Abu Dhabi have said that their employees will adopt a uniform work week. At the same time, no specific instructions have been given regarding the private sector.
Weekend will start before Friday prayers
The UAE government said in its statement that the move would ensure smooth financial, trade and economic transactions with countries observing Saturday and Sunday weekends, providing strong international trade links for thousands of UAE-based multinationals and Opportunities will be available. Friday is a weekly holiday in many Muslim countries. In such a situation, the working hours on Friday will end by 12 noon before the Friday prayers.
