Early menopause in men over 30 years old

In the past, male hypogonadism was usually in the 50s, but now many men over the age of 30 have this disease due to a drop in testosterone.

“Deterioration of sexual function in men tends to be younger, men after the age of 40 often have a lot of testosterone reduction,” said Associate Professor Nguyen Quang, Director of the Center for Andrology, Viet Duc Hospital, President of the Medical Association. Vietnamese gender, spoken at National scientific conference on sexual health, January 23rd.

Testosterone is a male hormone, plays an important role in the biology of men’s health, and is considered the energy that keeps men’s bravery. Testosterone levels begin to decline as men reach adulthood. At the age of 40, this hormone will decrease much, causing male menopause. Lack of testosterone hormone, a man’s body will be tired, difficult to concentrate on work, affecting family life and work quality. In particular, sex life in men is affected such as decreased libido, premature ejaculation, loss of excitement, erectile dysfunction and other manifestations such as hair loss, muscle atrophy, fatigue, loss of concentration, fat belly…

“In addition to age, issues of eating, lifestyle, environment, diet … directly affect testosterone levels,” said Dr. Quang.

A series of metabolic diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease… due to unhealthy eating habits will make testosterone drop sooner. In addition, psychological stress also has a significant impact on men’s sexual life. Studies show that 47% of people who are stressed have a decrease in sex drive and are no longer interested. In addition, indiscriminate sexual habits are the cause of sexual weakness in men.

The cause is also from environmental factors, living, eating. In Vietnam, a number of domestic male study units are also conducting research to assess the current state of men’s sperm health.

Doctors recommend to maintain and increase testosterone in a very natural way, men need to avoid stress, fatigue in life, limit stimulants such as tobacco, alcohol, control weight, exercise, Eat foods rich in zinc such as eggs, oysters… Regular sex also contributes to increased testosterone. During sleep, the body produces some testosterone, so it is important to get enough sleep.

Normal testosterone levels are between 300 and 1,200 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL) for a man, depending on thyroid function, protein status, and other factors. Below 300 ng/dL is diagnosed with low testosterone.

Testosterone peaks around 18-25 years of age before gradually decreasing throughout the rest of adulthood. After the age of 30, men’s testosterone levels can drop about 1% per year and plummet 30-50% when they are over 50.
