Raid, FiFa Online and League of Legends are 3 of the main eSports competitions at this year’s SEA Games.
At the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) held in Vietnam, eSports is one of 40 sports that athletes will have the opportunity to compete in.
Specifically, athletes will compete in 8 games, 10 competitions with a total of 10 sets of medals. All the subjects on the list of eSports competitions at the 2021 SEA Games are games that have been licensed for release by the Ministry of Information and Communications in Vietnam.
Eight games were selected to compete at SEA Games 31 including League of Legends (League of Legends: Wild Rift – Mobile), Mobile Union, PUBG, Survival Arena (Free Fire), FiFa Online 4, Raid ( Crossfire), League of Legends (PC) and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
To win the medal, athletes will have to go through 3 rounds of competition: group stage, semi-final and final.
The competition period of eSports will last from May 13 to May 22, 2022. The eSport content at SEA Games 31 will be held at the National Convention Center (Hanoi).
Commenting on the opportunity to win a medal of Vietnam’s e-Sports, Mr. Do Viet Hung – General Secretary of VIRESA said that we have many strong athletes and teams who have achieved high results in regional tournaments. and international. Therefore, Vietnam has full confidence in a successful SEA Games both in terms of organization and competition performance.
Previously, at the 30th SEA Games, the Philippines included eSports in the medal competition with 6 subjects: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, Dota 2, Starcraft II, Tekken 7 and Hearthstone. Here, Vietnam won 3 bronze medals.
Through these events, it can be seen that eSports has been recognized by society as an official sport and is equal to other traditional sports.
