Deepening crisis, preparing to recognize the independence of separatist regions of eastern Ukraine

Russia Ukraine Conflict: The Russia-Ukraine standoff does not appear to be abating. Amid rising tensions, Russian President Vladimir Putin has called a meeting to consider recognizing the independence of separatist regions in eastern Ukraine. Putin’s move could deepen the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

Ukrainian army had given information about the death of a soldier
Ukraine’s military on Saturday reported the first death of a soldier in weeks and accused Moscow-backed rebels of rapidly escalating attacks. The Joint Military Command for Eastern Ukraine said a soldier was killed by deadly shrapnel in an ongoing conflict zone between two separatist areas near the Russian border. Ukraine’s emergency service said Friday that two of its workers were injured during a wave of attacks. Rebel leaders, on the other hand, accused the Ukrainian armed forces of trying to take back two of their separatist territories by force. However, Kiev denied this.

Rebels ordered military mobilization
On Saturday, a separatist leader in eastern Ukraine ordered a full military mobilization amid growing fear of aggression. Denis Pushilin, the head of the Russian-backed separatist government in the Donetsk region, issued a statement on Saturday announcing a full military mobilization and urging reserve force members to come to the military enlistment office. The move comes after violence erupted in the region in recent days between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed rebels. Western countries have expressed apprehension about this violence that Moscow can attack under its guise.

Separatist authorities in Donetsk and Luhansk on Friday announced sending women, children and the elderly to neighboring Russia. These efforts were immediately followed by several explosions in the rebel-held areas. The separatist conflict in eastern Ukraine began in 2014 and has killed more than 14,000 people.

Ukraine-Russia tensions at peak
Earlier on Sunday, Russia increased military exercises near the northern borders of Ukraine. It has deployed about 30,000 troops to Belarus, which borders Ukraine’s northern border. Along with this, 150,000 soldiers, war planes and other equipment have been deployed on the borders of Ukraine. Kiev has a population of around 30 million.

What does Russia want after all?,
Let us tell you that Russia has placed many demands in front of Western countries regarding Ukraine. Russia says that Ukraine should never be allowed to become a member of NATO and the NATO alliance should give up all military activity in Eastern Europe.
