All three major carriers, VinaPhone, Viettel and MobiFone, have been licensed to test 5G commercially in big cities.
According to information from VNPT, this group has just been licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications to test 5G commercially at 2,600MHz, 3,700-3,800MHz (C-Band) bands. Thus, together with Viettel and MobiFone, VinaPhone will become the third mobile network to be licensed for 5G commercial testing.
Specifically, VNPT will be allowed to test 5G commercially in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The test areas will be central districts, in places with high concentrations of people and public spaces.
VinaPhone is also currently the only operator testing 5G commercially in both big cities. Previously, the Ministry of Information and Communications allowed Viettel to test 5G in the Hanoi area, and with MobiFone in Ho Chi Minh City.

Sharing more about his plan, the representative of VNPT said that the preparation for commercialization of 5G is entering the final stage. VNPT has tested 5G integration on existing radio, transmission and core networks. Therefore, the 5G commercialization test preparation process is currently very favorable.
Along with the network preparation, this carrier is also working with mobile phone manufacturers to test the integration of 5G terminals that are on the market. As expected, VinaPhone will officially test 5G commercial in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in December.
5G stands for Fifth Generation (fifth generation mobile network). This is the name of the technology that follows LTE (4G), UMTS (3G) and GSM (2G).
