Containment: restaurateurs, pending, are more worried than ever

Time passes and the cash desks are always empty for restaurateurs, each day more worried. “It’s confused, we don’t know anything about it, we don’t know if tomorrow we’re going to die or if not, we will be able to get our heads out of the water“, deplores Thierry Buena Vista, restaurateur in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales). While many were hoping for a clearing up at the beginning of December, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran was clear on Tuesday, November 17: restaurants will not be able to reopen in early December.

Faced with uncertainty, restaurant owners are calling for a little more solidarity. “We don’t ask for help, […] what we are asking for is that we fully compensate for the damage we suffer“, advance Philippe Belot, vice-president of the Haute-Garonne hotel trades and industries union. Between two reconfinements, the restaurants were able to reopen, so restaurant owners are wondering why they have to close again.
