Completion of the first trial injection of 75 mcg Nanocovax – VnExpress

HanoiAn additional 10 volunteers received an injection of 75 mcg Nanocovax on January 15. Thus, all 60 people who tested the Covid-19 phase one vaccine received at least one dose.

According to representatives of the Military Medical Academy, the 75 mcg injection group had only mild side effects such as soreness at the injection site, no fever. In which, the first 3 girls who first tested the highest dose on January 12 returned home, the remaining 17 continued to be monitored at the Military Medical Academy.

Nanocovax is the first Covid-19 vaccine in Vietnam put into human testing, starting on December 10, 2020. In phase one, the researcher checks the vaccine’s safety and detects a safe dose. There are three groups of experimental injections of Nanocovax including groups of injections of 25, 50 and 75 mcg, each group of 20 people.


– Group of 25 mcg: all were given the first dose, 3 people injected the second dose on January 14.

– Group of 50 mcg: all injected with the first dose on December 26, 2020, not given the second dose.

– Group of 75 mcg: the entire first dose on 12/1 injection, are under follow-up.

To date, human vaccine research has gone halfway through phase one. Results of preliminary assessment showed that vaccines produce high immunity, can generate 4-5 times the amount of antibodies after the second injection and is safe in humans. With this result, second phase clinical research could begin after the Lunar New Year as expected.

Phase two is scheduled to start in February and end in August 2021, with over 560 volunteers aged 12-75. Nanogen’s three units include the Military Medical Academy, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. From this stage, the trial aimed to evaluate the immunogenicity and preventive potency of Covid-19 of the vaccine. There are already 350 people signed up for the second stage clinical trial.

Phase three from August 2021 to 2/2022, involving 1,500 to 3,000 volunteers aged 12 to 75, is scheduled to be tested in the epidemiological area in India, Indonesia or Bangladesh.

Vietnam’s first Covid-19 vaccine was Nanocovax developed by Nanogen Company. The company’s representative said that the clinical trial could be ended in the fourth quarter of 2021, four months earlier than the original plan if the trial was favorable.
