Quang NinhThe 34-year-old sleeping man felt itchy and painful in his ear, suspecting insects entering the hospital, and went to the emergency hospital.
Doctor Uong Bi Vietnam – Sweden Hospital, on September 30, checked and found out that patient had a moving insect’s leg outside the ear canal. Results of endoscopy found a cockroach about 1.5-2 cm in size was crawling in the ear canal.
Before the cockroach pick-up procedure, the doctor must kill the animal to relieve the patient’s pain and then take it out.
Dr. Uong Hong Hop, Head of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat, recommends that insects that enter the ear, if not removed, can crawl deep into the ear canal, causing the eardrum or causing infection and ear infection.
When an insect gets into the ear, the patient should calmly handle it by using clean water such as filtered water or salt water that has been poured into the ear if an object is suspected. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to let the insect die or fly away from the ear. Absolutely not try to remove because it may cause the animal to go deeper into the ear, affecting hearing. Then, quickly go to the medical facility for intervention.
To avoid the risk of insect or animal bites, clean, clear the bush, regularly inspect the house. Be wary of insects, especially poisonous snakes. Always sleep nets, don’t sleep on the ground
