Clashes between army and rebel groups in Myanmar, 30 soldiers killed

There has been upheaval since last 8 months

Myanmar has been in turmoil since the February 1 coup. Myanmar’s army, led by General Ming Aung Hling, overthrew the government and declared a year-long state of emergency. After the coup, mass protests started which later turned violent.

In the more than eight months since the coup, the armed forces arrested at least 7,219 people, according to data from the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP). 1,167 civilians have died. There has been a significant increase in the number of clashes between the Myanmar military and rebel groups, reaching 132 incidents of conflict in the last month alone.
