Caleb Landry Jones, the new rising star of American cinema

In his Paris hotel room, he sports long blond hair and expresses himself gently, smoking cigarettes from time to time. Caleb Landry Jones, 32, is nothing to worry about. And yet… It is to him that independent American cinema has for some time been entrusting the roles of villain or twisted person who is not very frequentable, of 3 Billboards: The Revenge Billboards to get-out to the Australian sociopath of Nitram .

It is thanks to this role, as terrifying as it is touching, that Jones won the best actor award at the last Cannes Film Festival. Justin Kurzel’s drama tells the true story of Martin Bryant, nicknamed “Nitram” (Martin upside down), an asocial young man who carried out the worst mass murder in Australian history on April 28, 1996, murdering coldly 35 people in Port Arthur.

This Texan by birth, brought up by a fairly strict and religious American family, is back in France to shoot in Luc’s next film…
