Businesses that do not convert digitally will lag behind


Digital transformation is one of the important factors for a business to be able to adapt flexibly, thereby increasing its ability to survive and develop in the post-Covid-19 new normal.

At the FPT Techday technology forum, talking about the biggest challenge that Vietnamese businesses face in transitioning to the “green normal”, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hong Phuc – Deputy General Director of Strategy and Operations Department According to KPMG Vietnam, the biggest risk businesses face is in the supply chain.

Research by KPMG shows that supply chain risks are currently the top challenge, followed by price issues, especially in Vietnam.

In fact, many Vietnamese businesses only focus on one or a few partners to optimize the supply chain. Therefore, when the supply chain is broken, they will be greatly affected.

Therefore, what businesses need to do in the new normal is to change the way they operate, so that they can quickly switch to another supplier as soon as there is a crisis. This is one of the important factors for Vietnamese businesses to adapt after Covid-19.

In addition, according to KPMG experts, companies also need to become flexible. There are 3 factors for flexible adaptation, which are diversifying suppliers, actively digital transformation, finding suitable technologies and finally how to effectively manage risks.

According to a survey by KPMG, 80% of businesses surveyed think that digital transformation programs have been accelerated during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Notably, up to 67% of CIOs (Chief Information Officer) want to invest more in technology.

Sharing more about this, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hong Phuc – Deputy General Director of Strategy and Operations Department KPMG Vietnam said that all clients of the “Big Four” company in this audit industry have digital transformation needs.

However, the head of KPMG’s strategy and operations department said that just investing in technology is not enough. For successful digital transformation, businesses need to digitally transform the way they operate.

“They have to determine what the new revenue sources are, how to operate effectively, and then think about how to do digital transformation,” said Mr. Phuc.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hong Phuc, digital transformation is the future. Businesses that do not undergo digital transformation will soon fall behind. Many Vietnamese businesses are actively transforming digitally. Thanks to that, they are going much further than other companies in the industry.
