Box-Office: with Conjuring, American horror surpasses French comedy

Conjuring 3 largely retains its place at the top of cinema ticket sales in France, followed by Without a sound 2, in a week which will have drawn crowds to dark rooms.

After a great start followed by a little hollow, the French rooms find color. This week, two American horror films and one American action film dominate the French box office, in theaters which have drawn nearly 2 million spectators in seven days, a record since the reopening.

According to CBO Box-office, 1.9 million people rushed into the room, still subject to the gauges at 65%, last week. They were 2.2 million for the recovery in mid-May, before attendance fell to around 1.2 million weekly admissions.

And this is the third installment of the horror saga Conjuring which won for its second consecutive week at the top of the box office, with more than 400,000 admissions. It is followed by another chilling movie: Without a sound 2 by John Krasinski with Emily Blunt, a novelty, which attracted nearly 230,000 horror lovers. In third place, under the bar of 150,000 admissions, we find the American remake of Conveyor, entitled An angry man, by Guy Ritchie with Jason Statham.

The French start from third place, with two comedies: A tour of my daughter’s house, Following Back to my mother with Josiane Balasko, Mathilde Seigner, Line Renaud and Jérôme Commandeur, and The 2 Alfred by Bruno Podalydès, with his brother Denis Podalydès and Sandrine Kiberlain.
