Due to low sales, investors predict Apple may stop producing the iPhone 12 mini line in the second quarter of 2021.
According to data that research firm Counterpoint has just announced, the iPhone 12 mini in the US only accounts for 5% of Apple’s total iPhone 12 sales in the first half of January 2021. This continues to be a sign that demand for the small iPhone model is relatively low.
In recent years, users have turned to large-sized smartphones for entertainment and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat.
Last week, analyst William Yang from JPMorgan, a financial group, said weak demand for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini could lead to Apple stopping production of iPhone 12 mini in the second quarter of 2021. He added that, investors are all predicting the adjustment of product structure and absolutely no negative surprises.
Apple launched the iPhone 12 mini in 2020, but its demand compared to the high-end iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 11 does not seem to be equal. According to Yang, it is in line with what is happening in the global market, where screens under 6 inches are now only about 10% of smartphone sales.
“Apple” sells the iPhone 12 a few weeks later than every year, but expands the number of models for users to choose, especially in China. Last month, the company reported revenue from iPhone in the fourth quarter of 2020 reached $ 65.6 billion, breaking the record it set three years ago.
