Another 46,880 cases of Covid-19

The Ministry of Health on the evening of February 21 announced 46,880 infections, of which 46,861 were in 62 provinces and cities; 104 deaths.

In the past 24 hours, 13,886 cases were detected in isolation or blockade areas (up 545 cases), 32,975 community cases (down 876 cases). Localities recorded a higher number of infections compared to the previous day: Hai Duong 499, Hanoi 375, Bac Ninh 222 cases.

The average number of new infections in the country recorded in the past 7 days is 40,164 cases/day.

The number of Omicron infections increased to 205, including: Ho Chi Minh City 97, Quang Nam 27, Quang Ninh 20, Hanoi 18, Khanh Hoa 11, Da Nang 8, Hung Yen 6, Kien Giang 4, Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong, Long An , Binh Duong 2, Hai Phong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Lam Dong, Ninh Binh, Binh Phuoc, An Giang each place.

From 17:30 on February 20 to 17:30 on February 21, 104 deaths were recorded in: Hanoi 35 cases in two days, An Giang 5 cases in two days, Kien Giang, Vinh Long and Quang Binh all 4, Quang Nam 4 shifts in two days, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen 3 places each; Hai Duong 3 shifts in two days; Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Nong, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh each 2; Ha Nam 2 shifts in two days; Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Binh Thuan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Khanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Phu Yen, Quang Ngai each.

The average number of deaths recorded in the past 7 days is 81 cases. The total number of deaths in Vietnam so far is 39,605, accounting for 1.4% of the total number of infections.

The total number of deaths in Vietnam ranks 24 out of 225 countries and territories. Calculating the number of deaths per million people, Vietnam ranks 129th. Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths Vietnam ranks 6th out of 49 countries and territories (3rd in ASEAN), mortality rate per one million people ranked 23rd (4th in ASEAN).

In the fourth outbreak, the number of domestic infections was 2,827,112, of which 2,291,852 cases were announced to be cured.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has recorded 2,834,373 infections, ranking 32/225 countries and territories. With the rate of infections per million people, Vietnam ranks 144th (average of 28,696 infections per million people).

Localities with high cumulative infections during this outbreak: Ho Chi Minh City 520,790 cases, Binh Duong 294,139, Hanoi 203.82, Dong Nai 100,537, Tay Ninh 89,115 cases.

Regarding treatment, the number of cures in a day is 13,235. The total number of cured cases reached 2,294,669. The number of critically ill patients being treated is 3,145 cases, of which there are 2,454 cases of oxygen through a mask, 324 cases of HFNC high-flow oxygen, 96 cases of non-invasive mechanical ventilation, 258 cases of invasive mechanical ventilation and 13 cases of ECMO.

The number of tests from April 27, 2021 to date has been more than 33.1 million samples, equivalent to 78.5 million turns of people, an increase of 75,616 samples compared to the previous day.

On February 19, there were 294,753 doses of vaccine injected. Thus, the total number of doses that have been injected is more than 191.6 million. In which, more than 174.9 million doses were injected for people aged 18 and over; The first dose is more than 70.8 million doses, the second dose is more than 67.2 million doses, the additional dose is more than 13.4 million doses, the third dose is more than 1.4 million doses, the booster dose is more than 21.8 million doses. Vaccination for children 12-17 years old is more than 16.7 million doses; in which the first dose is more than 8.6 million, the second dose is more than 8.1 million doses.
