Thus, the past 24 hours increased by 210 cases compared to yesterday. Among the infected, there were 5,551 cases detected in isolation or blockade areas (increased 161 cases), 10,542 cases in the community (increased 49 cases).
The total number of cases today is equivalent to December 11 (16,104 cases), which is the highest number of cases recorded since the “new normal” – not counting the days when additional cases were announced. Today is the second time that Hanoi leads the provinces in the number of infections (on December 13, it recorded 1,000 cases), but it is the first time to 1,405 cases. Hanoi is the only locality in the North where the total number of infections is over 20,000.
In the past 7 days, the infection rate in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is about the same, about 80 cases for every 100,000 people. Another point is that the curve of the infection curve in Ho Chi Minh City is going down and Hanoi is going up.
The average number of new infections in the country recorded in the past 7 days is 15,505 cases/day.
During the day, 215 deaths were recorded in: Ho Chi Minh City 57, Dong Nai 23, Binh Duong 18, An Giang 16, Tien Giang 13, Can Tho 12, Soc Trang and Dong Thap 11, Tay Ninh 9, Binh Thuan 7, Binh Phuoc and Vinh Long 6, Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Tra Vinh 5, Hanoi, Ben Tre, Khanh Hoa, Bac Lieu all 3, Long An 2, Quang Ngai and Hau Giang one.
The average number of deaths recorded in the past 7 days is 247 cases. The total number of deaths in Vietnam so far is 29,566, accounting for 2% of the total number of infections.
The total number of deaths ranked 32/223 countries and territories. If counting the number of deaths per million population, Vietnam ranks 13th. Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths in Vietnam is 9th/49th (4th in ASEAN), and 27th in the number of deaths per million population. (6th ASEAN).
In the fourth outbreak, the number of domestic infections was 1,534,979 cases, of which 1,105,145 cases were announced to be cured.
Regarding treatment, the number of cures per day was 10,799 cases. The total number of cured cases reached 1,107,962 cases. The number of critically ill patients being treated is 7,587 cases, of which 5,291 cases of oxygen through a mask, 1,240 cases of HFNC high-flow oxygen, 175 cases of non-invasive mechanical ventilation, 860 cases of invasive mechanical ventilation and 21 cases of ECMO.
Thus, the number of severe cases today has decreased compared to the past days.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has recorded 1,540,478 infections, ranking 32/223 countries and territories.
Localities with high cumulative infections during this outbreak: Ho Chi Minh City 494,683 cases, Binh Duong 289,175, Dong Nai 94,928, Tay Ninh 64,014, Long An 39,663 cases.
Regarding testing, in the past 24 hours, 150,023 samples were tested for 196,538 turns of people. The number of tests from April 27 to now has done 28.8 million samples for 72.7 million people.
Regarding vaccination, on December 18, there were 1,199,726 doses of vaccine injected. Thus, the total number of doses injected is 138.7 million doses, of which the 1st injection is 75.6 million doses, the 2nd dose is 61.8 million doses, and the 3rd dose (additional/reinforced injection and nose) 3 of the Abdala vaccine) is 1,184,878 doses.
The Ministry of Health continues to direct localities to urgently speed up the vaccination schedule for people of the specified age; ensure safe vaccination, give priority to vaccination for people aged 50 years and over, people with underlying diseases.
Localities strengthen supervision and early detection of suspected cases in the community, showing cough and fever in order to promptly localize, isolate, and thoroughly handle the outbreak to prevent its spread and outbreak; avoid cross-contamination in isolation and blockade areas.
