Another 15,959 infections, the number of Omicron cases increased to 108

In the past 24 hours, the number of infections nationwide decreased by 827 compared to yesterday, including 5,476 cases detected in isolation or blockade areas (up 864 cases), 10,460 community cases (down 1,691 cases). Hanoi and Da Nang lead localities in the number of infections today.

The average number of new infections in the country recorded in the past 7 days is 16,243 cases/day.

Ho Chi Minh City first recorded 3 cases of Omicron infection in the community, due to contact with imported people (from the US). The city is quickly tracing and zoning to prevent spread in the community. During the day, the city recorded a total of 38 Omicron cases, but apart from the above 3 community transmission cases, the authorities have not announced the epidemiology of the remaining 35 cases. Thus, in total, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 68 cases of Omicron as of this evening.

Up to now, 108 cases of Omicron mutation have been recorded in Vietnam, at: Ho Chi Minh City 68, Quang Nam 27, Da Nang 3, Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa and Quang Ninh all 2, Hanoi, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Long An all one.

Today recorded 142 deaths in: Dong Thap 16, Kien Giang 12, Vinh Long 11, Ben Tre (10 cases in 2 days), Ho Chi Minh City 9, Ba Ria – Vung Tau (9 cases in 2 days), Soc Trang and An Giang 8, Tien Giang 7, Tay Ninh 6, Can Tho and Ca Mau 5, Hanoi, Khanh Hoa and Long An 4, Binh Phuoc 3, Lam Dong, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Hai Phong, Hoa Binh, Hue each place 2, Bac Ninh, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Dak Lak, Nam Dinh, Lao Cai, Nghe An, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan each.

The average number of deaths recorded in the past 7 days is 164 cases. The total number of deaths in Vietnam so far is 36,114, accounting for 1.7% of the total number of infections.

In the fourth outbreak, the number of domestic infections was 2,071,658 cases, of which 1,786,371 cases were announced to be cured.

The number of cured cases in the day was 33,034 cases, the total number of cured cases reached 1,789,188 cases. The number of critically ill patients being treated is 5,588 cases, of which there are 3,971 cases of oxygen through a mask, 769 cases of HFNC high-flow oxygen, 142 cases of non-invasive mechanical ventilation, 686 cases of invasive mechanical ventilation and 20 cases of ECMO.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has recorded 2,078,087 infections, ranking 28th out of 224 countries and territories, while with the rate of infections per million people, Vietnam ranks 143rd (on average per million people). 1 million people has 21,056 infections).

From April 27, 2021 to now, 31.6 million samples have been tested, equivalent to 76.4 million turns of people, an increase of 54,122 samples compared to the previous day.

On January 18, 1,569,422 doses of vaccine were injected.
