On the International Day of Human Solidarity (December 20), Vingroup announced the launch of VinFuture Fund. The Foundation was set up to hold the International Science and Technology Awards – one of the world’s most valuable annual awards.

The founder of the VinFuture award is Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong – Chairman of Vingroup Group and his wife, Mrs. Pham Thu Huong.

In terms of structure, the annual VinFuture Prize has 1 Main Prize and 3 Special Prizes, with a total value of 104.5 billion VND (equivalent to 4.5 million USD).
In which, the main prize (VinFuture Grand Prize) worth 70 billion VND, equivalent to 3 million USD, is one of the most valuable global science and technology awards so far. The main prize will be awarded to the author of groundbreaking research, technological inventions that have been shown to make people’s lives better and improve sustainable living environments for those who future generation.
In order to encourage diversity, fairness of opportunities and towards the future, VinFuture Foundation also awarded 3 Special Prizes each worth 11.5 billion VND per year, equivalent to 500,000 USD, including:
Special VinFuture Prize for authors of research or inventions or inventions from developing countries. This is the most valuable global award for scientists from countries where scientific research conditions as well as the opportunity for scientists to be honored at this level are limited.
Special VinFuture Prize for a female author of research or invention. This is the world’s most valuable award for female scientists.
Special VinFuture Prize for pioneering research or invention authors in new fields.
Towards a better life for everyone
Nominations are recommended by scientists, globally influential inventors and research, educational, technology corporations, and prestigious innovation incubators in all countries. .
An independent Awards Council will be responsible for selecting winners from nominations. The Council is comprised of internationally recognized scientists and inventors from leading educational, research and technological organizations in the world.
Awards Council members’ achievements and contributions in the field of science and technology have been recognized on a global scale, contributing to the advancement of humanity. To ensure the operation and award of VinFuture, the founders pledged to finance the initial amount of VND 2,000 billion and will be added in the future to ensure the long-term operation of the fund. The unit directly managing the award and implementing its activities is the VinFuture Fund, an independent non-profit organization. Standing side by side in the role of advising and supporting the founders is an Advisory Council comprised of excellent Vietnamese scientists led by GS. Vu Ha Van, Yale University and Professor. Nguyen Thuc Quyen, University of California Santa Barbara serves as co-chair.

The VinFuture Awards will start receiving nominations for the first award season from January to June 2021. The list of winners of the VinFuture Award will be announced in December 2021. The official award ceremony will be held in Vietnam in January 2022.
