An GiangA 33-year-old man, from Phu Huu commune, An Phu district, contracted Covid-19 after driving a boat carrying “patient 12642” to illegally cross the border from Cambodia to Vietnam.
On June 20, An Giang province’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control confirmed that this is the first domestic case of this province, recorded by the Ministry of Health this afternoon as case 13059.
According to the epidemiological investigation, this man bought fish in Tan Chau town, An Giang province, and transported it by boat to the Cambodian border area. After reporting to the authorities, he exchanged his talents for a 29-year-old Vietnamese man in Cambodia, so that he could run a boat to a friend’s country to sell fish.
On June 17, after selling all the fish, the young man ran the boat to the border and handed it over to the owner. He then hid in the boat to illegally enter the country to visit his family.
On the evening of the same day, this border crossing person returned to Phu Huu commune, but was discovered by the people, reported to the authorities to be quarantined in the night, the result was positive for nCoV. On the evening of June 19, this case was recorded by the Ministry of Health as an entry case 12642.
In addition to the boat owner, 14 other F1s of “patient 12642” tested negative for the first time for nCoV. The Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control in An Giang province is urgently tracing and close contact with this new case for isolation.
An Giang is the 42nd province in the country that has recorded Covid-19 cases during this epidemic.
