America-China Tussle: For Chinese President Xi Jinping, the New Year’s turn is going to increase the tension. The reason for the tension is not only the rising corona cases or the party Congress elections to be held in 2022, but also America’s T2 plan. T2 means the front of Tibet and Taiwan, on which America has suddenly increased the heat against China. Obviously, America is preparing to crack down on the Chinese dragon by increasing the pressure on both these fronts.
Actually, America has appointed Ujra Jaya as the new interlocutor for Tibet under this T2 plan. Ujra has been tasked to conduct talks between the Dalai Lama or his representatives and the Chinese government, so that a solution can be found that protects Tibet’s religious and ethnic identity and rights.
No formal talks after 2010
Note that there have been no formal talks between the Dalai Lama’s representatives and the Chinese government since 2010. That is, during the tenure of the current President Xi Jinping, who has been in power in China since 2013, the two sides have not met at the table of negotiations.
Ujra Jaya Indian-American diplomat
It is clear that this decision of America is going to shake China. The reason for China’s irritation is also more because Ujra Jaya is an American diplomat of Indian origin. Ujra’s grandfather was a freedom fighter in India. Not only this, the role of India is also included with this appointment, because the Dalai Lama and the exile administration of Tibet are present in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh.
China opposes Zea’s appointment
However, China has apparently opposed Jeya’s appointment. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that Tibet is an internal matter of China. There is no scope for any outside interlocutor or interference on this. China does not accept this appointment.
US strategy is also important for India
This maneuver of America appears to be part of a well thought out strategy. At the same time, this American strategy becomes important from India’s point of view, because the Tibetan cleric and the 14th Dalai Lama have been present in India for more than 60 years. At the same time, a large number of Tibetan refugees have also settled in India for decades. In such a situation, if politics heats up on the question of Tibet, then India’s opinion on it will be very important.
Dalai Lama’s appointment is not accepted by Chinese arbitrariness
Not only this, in view of the differences between Dharamsala and Beijing over his successor after the Dalai Lama, who has seen 86 springs of life, America’s wager will also be important. Where China is busy laying the chessboard for the appointment of the new Dalai Lama with its own will and convenience. At the same time, the current Dalai Lama in Dharamsala and the Tibetan administration in exile have made it clear that unilateral Chinese arbitrariness will not accept the appointment of the Dalai Lama. That is, it is clear that the front of this confrontation is already standing, with the help of which America also does not want to miss the opportunity to fire shells of pressure on China.
Taiwan, the second important front of the US plan
At the same time, the second important front of the US plan in the blockade of China is that of Taiwan. America has already made it clear that it will respond to any China’s bigotry against Taiwan. Not only this, important East Asian countries like Japan, South Korea have also expressed their favor to protect the interests of Taiwan. At the same time, China opposes any foreign interference in Taiwan, citing its one-China policy. At the same time, Chinese fighter planes are often seen flying in the sky of Taiwan.
America is targeting Beijing
America, which has increased its military presence and strategic activity in the Indo-Pacific region, does not want to miss the opportunity to shoot arrows at China on the pretext of Taiwan. This is the reason why America is targeting Beijing these days, citing the protection of Taiwan’s interests. In such a situation, many experts believe that Taiwan can become a big front of confrontation between America and China. If this happens, it will not be possible to ignore the role of India, an important partner of America in the Quartet of Quad and a major power in the Indian Ocean.
The process of dialogue between Taiwan-India increased
Although India attaches more importance to trade relations with Taiwan, but in the past, the process of political dialogue between Taiwan and India has also increased. This is the reason that in May 2020, BJP MPs Meenakshi Lekhi and Rahul Kaswan attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Sai Ing Wen in a virtual way. Meenakshi Lekhi is the Minister of State for External Affairs of India these days.
Trying to widen the electoral streak in 2022
From the region of the Indo-Pacific to the Himalayas, both fronts of T2 have been heating up at a time when President Xi Jinping is trying to increase his electoral streak in 2022. After abolishing the provision of the President’s term in the year 2018, his effort will be to get the next term in the 20th Party Congress meeting. But, from Tibet to Taiwan, the confrontation on the front and from Hong Kong to the economic level challenges President Xi’s life efforts can also break the President’s dream.
