After 66 cases of Kovid-19 were reported, China imposed a lockdown in a city with a population of 17.5 million.


Covid Lockdown in China: The lockdown was implemented in the southern Chinese tech hub Shenzhen on Sunday. The local government took this decision after 66 new coronavirus cases were reported in the city. The city shares a border with Hong Kong which is badly affected by the coronavirus.

Residents of this city with a population of 17,560,000 have been told to stay at home to reduce Omicron flare-ups. Non-essential places have already been closed and restaurant food banned.

The highest number of cases were reported in two years on Saturday
Let us tell you that the daily cases of Kovid-19 in China were recorded on Saturday, the highest in two years. Officials said that about two thousand new cases have come, including 20 infected in Beijing.

The National Health Commission said on Sunday that 1,807 new cases of local infection of Kovid-19 were reported on the Chinese mainland on Saturday, while 131 patients were imported.

There is also a lockdown in these cities
The commission said that among the new cases of local infection, 1,412 patients are from Jilin province, where China had ordered a lockdown last Friday in view of the increasing cases of Kovid-19 in the capital Changchun. About 90 lakh population lives in this city.

Apart from Changchun, the administration has also recently ordered a lockdown in Yucheng of Shandong province, which has a population of about five lakhs.

Hong Kong situation grim
Meanwhile, the situation continues to worsen in Hong Kong where authorities have confirmed 27,647 new cases of Kovid-19. In the former British colony of Hong Kong, 87 people have died of Kovid-19, which together has killed 3,729 people here.
