The bad Jedi was chosen over Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman to play the founder of the Scuderia. He joins Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley who will play the Italian tycoon’s wife and mistress.

Italian luxury captivates Adam Driver. After Maurizio Gucci, of the brand of the same name, the American actor lends his features to Enzo Ferrari, founder of the racing team in 1929. Long tipped for the title role, Christian Bale then Hugh Jackman give way to Adam Driver, just nominated for the César in the category of best actor. The script is inspired byEnzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine, biography by Brock Yates. According to Deadline , the biopic takes place during the summer of 1957. The Ferrari company is torn, in particular by the bankruptcy that awaits it and mourning. The couple’s second son, whose marriage is failing, died the previous summer. Winning the Mille Miglia, the legendary Italian automobile competition of 1000 miles (about 1600 km), gives hope to Enzo Ferrari.

The realization of the biopic torments the spirit of Michael Mann “for two decades”. “Ferrariit’s much more than the story of a man and his machineconfide for Deadline Adam Fogelson, president of STXfilms, producing the film. […] Adam Driver is one of the most talented and compelling comedians around, and we couldn’t be happier to team up with Penélope, whose storied career builds with every role she takes on.“. The shooting of the film should begin in May in Italy. No release date has been revealed.

2022 is a productive year for Michael Mann. Starting April 7, tokyo vice, a series adapted from the eponymous novel published in 2009, will be broadcast on HBO Max. The eight episodes – only the first is directed by Mann – follow Jake Adelstein, an American journalist working for the police and justice department of Yomiuri Shimbun, the largest Japanese daily. Investigating the Japanese underworld, he becomes both interlocutor of the yakusas and informant of the police. Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver ) is already designated to interpret the journalist.
Finally, in a book to be published in August, Michael Mann will divulge Heat 2, whose plot is established before but also after the events of the first part.
