A trailer for Lightyear, the film about the origins of Buzz Lightyear, starring Chris Evans

Pixar studios have unveiled the first images of the film dedicated to the most famous space rangers. The feature film will be released in theaters on June 22.

Buzz Lightyear will be entitled to its spin-off. Pixar Studios yesterday unveiled the first trailer for Lightyear, the film focused on the youth of Buzz Lightyear, the hero of the saga Toy story. A release date has also been revealed. The film will arrive in French theaters on June 22, 2022.

The trailer reveals little detail about the plot, other than that the hero will fly, unsurprisingly, to infinity and the afterlife. Without any dialogue, the video promises in any case a radical change from the Toy Story universe, the story leaping with both feet into the world of science fiction. Several nods to Star wars Where Alien are also slipped into the trailer. To further support the references to space, Buzz Lightyear rushes towards the sun to the sound of Starman, the David Bowie classic.

A new voice for Buzz Lightyear

Pixar chose Angus Mac Lane to direct the film. Already co-director of Dory’s World, the filmmaker is a pure product of the house, since he has also participated in the development of fifteen films in the franchise, including Ratatouille, Wall-E Where The world of Nemo. Actor Chris Evans will be voicing Buzz Lightyear for the first time, replacing Tim Allen.

An immense pride for the actor, which he expressed on his Twitter account: “Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe I can be part of the Pixar family and work with these really brilliant artists who tell stories like no one else. Watching them work is nothing but magic. I pinch myself every day.

Franchise Toy story has a special place in Pixar history. The first part, released in 1995, is the very first film developed by the studio, in partnership with Disney. A phenomenal success from the start, the feature film grossing more than $ 350 million at the box office.
