A private Muslim school in Toulouse reported for “breaches”



There will be no back-to-school 2021 at Al-Badr school. This Muslim school outside the Toulouse contract, which had already had trouble with the law, was reported to the public prosecutor for various “Obvious breaches”, indicated Monday, August 30 the rector of the Academy of Toulouse.

Parents of students at Al-Badr school have been ordered to enroll their children in another school, “But it is not at this stage an administrative closure” which can only be applied after a court decision, detailed rector Mostafa Fourar.

“Two checks revealed obvious shortcomings at both educational and administrative levels”, he said, a few days before the start of the school year. “For example, experimental scientific teaching cannot be guaranteed because of the insufficiency of premises and laboratory equipment”, specified the rector.

Already closed in 2016

“On the administrative level, there too are many shortcomings”, according to Mostafa Fourar, who quotes a “Poor maintenance of the register of teachers and pupils” or “The irregular presence of the director whose functions are delegated to unauthorized persons”.

This school, which received some 130 primary and secondary school pupils before the summer holidays, was ordered in 2016 by the Toulouse Criminal Court to close its doors for “Non-compliant teaching”.

Its director, Imam Abdelfattah Rahhaoui, renowned for his conservatism, had himself been sentenced to four months in prison and banned from running an educational establishment.

But in December 2018, the Toulouse Court of Appeal reversed the closure of the school and released its director as well as the Al-Badr association which managed the establishment, following a priority question of constitutionality (QPC ) filed by defense counsel. The school was thus able to reopen with the constitution of a new cultural association.

Another Steiner-Waldorf school reported

“They change their structure, but finally as soon as we do a check, we notice shortcomings. There is no mystery, it is the same people behind these structures. At some point, it has to stop ”, lamented the rector of the Toulouse academy.

Mostafa Fourar also informed of the report of the “Boutons d’Or” primary school in Bagnères-de-Bigorre (Hautes-Pyrénées), of which “Teaching is inspired by the Steiner-Waldorf pedagogy”, according to the establishment’s web page.

After three checks, the finding is final: “No teaching that would give the pupil the foundations of mathematical, scientific and technological culture was provided”, said the rector.
