7 people living on the boat tested positive for nCoV

Vinh LongThe 36-year-old man drove a boat carrying fertilizer with 6 family members from Ca Mau to Vung Liem district, took a quick test and then tested positive for nCoV.

All 7 cases were recorded positive by Vinh Long, according to Mr. Van Cong Minh, director of the Department of Health, on the morning of September 24. The Ministry of Health has not announced these cases.

Epidemiological investigation showed that on September 5, the man was a chaplain (boat driver) from Thanh Tri district, Soc Trang province, running a boat carrying his father, mother, wife and three children to a company in Ca Mau. Three days later, the boat arrived at a company in Tan An Luong commune, Vung Liem district. From September 9 to 20, the whole family lived on the boat, the crew went ashore to buy food, medicine, and interact with many people.

On September 21, the driver and some company employees transferred fertilizer to the unit’s warehouse. At noon the next day, he went to Nguyen Van Thu Medical Center (Vung Liem District) for a quick test positive for nCoV. The whole family was sampled for PCR testing, on the morning of September 24, the results were positive for Covid-19. All treated at the field hospital in Vung Liem district, currently in stable health.

The functional sector was able to trace 85 F1, concentrated isolation; more than 100 F2s isolated at home; blockade the area with hundreds of households to prevent epidemics.

According to Vinh Long Department of Health, from the beginning of the year until now, the province has recorded 2,258 cases positive for nCoV. Of which, 2,125 people have been cured, 44 have died.
